Our Story

We got to know one another while co-leading a Montessori Girl Scout troop. On a long car ride after a weekend of frigid outdoor training with Girl Scouts of Western Washington, we did that neurodivergent thing where you go from polite chitchat to the meaning of life in zero to 60 seconds. That car ride home sealed the deal, and we’ve been close ever since.

We bonded over being moms, neurodivergent and queer. We bonded over our love of getting people together and dreaming big about community and mutual aid. And then we really started to nerd out over our shared love of photography, scrapbooking, astrology, the Tarot, and getting starry-eyed over nature. After a certain point we started to feel like the universe had a plan for us and our friendship.

The past four years have evolved from a friendship of weekly family dinners, a Brandi Carlile concert at the Gorge, and more Girl Scout cookie booths than we ever imagined to a partnership where we help each other grow into the women we almost forgot we were.

We always joked about living next door so we could hang out more, so actually ending up under the same roof feels like the best kind of plot twist. Who knew women living together lends itself to ongoing conversations about making dreams reality? That is exactly how we birthed Wild Rekindling - drive by conversations while making dinner, rushing kids out the door, or stealing a few minutes together on the couch. Those countless conversations getting curious about how we can build community with others around coming home to our true selves added up to the something bigger you are reading about now..

Do you know that song by Jenny Lewis, called Puppy and a Truck? It starts, "My forties are kicking my ass, and handing 'em to me in a margarita glass." Or what about that song Thank You by Alanis Morissette, "Thank you, disillusionment...frailty...consequence." If those two songs had a baby, that baby would be stirrings that first launched Wild Rekindling.

I am a clinical social worker who has spent the better part of my career specializing in talk therapies for trauma. In December of 2023, sitting at Brandi's kitchen table celebrating the Winter Solstice, I had a disorienting and synchronistic experience as she read from the Tarot. It was the first of many synchronicities that slowly led to me waking up to who I am. That thread of synchronicities led me to my first psychedelic journey in December of 2024. My intention for the journey was healing childhood wounds; many years of talk therapy had helped, but never completely healed. Since that time, my professional and personal understanding of how healing happens seismically changed -- I got cracked open to an entirely new way of looking at healing. I discovered then, and understand deeply now we all have the inherent ability to heal. And to discover who we are.

And this is what led me to SoulCollage. It is a simple and profound process of healing, together, with our community.

Anyone else hit 40 during the pandemic, pick up Glennon Doyle’s Untamed, start therapy, and then end up divorced? Same. My 40s have been all about growing into myself. I’ve done the therapy, come out, found new loves, started a new career midlife, opened and closed a business—and I’m still giving myself the freedom and curiosity to chase new dreams.

My background is in art and fashion. I studied Visual Communications at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, where I fell in love with how art shapes the way we see ourselves and each other. That passion led me to open a photography studio, where I celebrated individuality through fine art portraiture—capturing people in their beauty, pride, and authenticity.

Later, my curiosity about culture and community took me to the University of Iowa, where I studied American Studies. My time there deepened my understanding of social systems and identities, and eventually I became program director at the Amana Heritage Society. Living in Amana opened my eyes to intentional communities and new ways people can come together to support one another.

Since then, I’ve been on a search for my own community. That journey led me to co-create a new Girl Scout troop—where I met Ellen. Through the magic of the universe, we now live together. While raising kids and building a home, we spend a lot of time dreaming about how to expand our circle. Bring on the mommune!

Wild Rekindling is a piece of that vision for community. We’d love for you to be part of it.
